Before the decision, there is desire.
The quiet pull toward something—or someone—before we know what we will do with it. Desire is where change begins: the recognition that something within us wants to move, reach, become.
The Heart is individually hand-carved from synthetic ruby in my Alameda studio, shaped into a miniature anatomical heart rather than its familiar symbolic form. Each carving follows the stone itself, so no two hearts are exactly alike. Subtle variations in shape, proportion, size and weight are part of the piece.
Each ruby is approximately 4–5 carats, its saturated red color and translucency shifting as light moves through the carving.
The Heart is finished with a 14k yellow gold push-in clasp, approximately 8 × 10.5 mm. Designed as part of MORPHE’s interchangeable system, the clasp allows the Heart to move between compatible chains and other pieces within the collection or to be worn however its owner chooses.
Because perhaps desire is not simply about wanting.
Sometimes, it is the first recognition that we are ready for something to change.
